Faced with the challenge of developing a high-performance cooling solution for elite motorsport athletes, adidas turned to Smoothlink for rapid prototyping support. In just three weeks, our team took the CLIMACOOL System from initial concept through to final prototypes, managing every aspect of the development cycle under intense, time-sensitive conditions.
We worked closely with adidas’ innovation team to translate the initial design intent into technical patterns, source and test suitable materials, and produce fully functional insulated garments and cooling vests ready for athlete testing. Every detail was executed with precision to meet the performance demands of Formula 1 and the exacting standards of the adidas team.
The final concept prototypes were hand-carried to adidas’ global headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, where they were presented to senior executives for review. This pivotal moment greenlit the CLIMACOOL System, which has now officially launched on Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team drivers at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix—delivering a critical performance advantage in extreme racing conditions.
